What moderators do

Community moderators are trusted members who help our small team keep discussions, reports and new-member questions handled quickly and fairly.

  • Review reported posts, comments and messages
  • Welcome new members and answer common questions
  • Flag suspicious accounts or activity to the trust & safety team
  • Keep discussions friendly, on-topic and free from spam

Your route into moderation

A thoughtful, supported application

Good moderation is about judgement, consistency and knowing when to ask for help. Our process is designed around all three.

01

Tell us about you

Share your community experience, availability and why fair online spaces matter to you.

02

Suitability review

We review account history and hold a relaxed conversation about judgement and safeguarding.

03

Supported training

Complete short scenario-based training on reports, privacy, escalation and difficult conversations.

04

Join the team

Start with a supported probation period, a named staff contact and clear check-ins.

Moderator badge

A distinctive badge on your profile that every member can see.

Recognition

Shout-outs in our newsletter and a direct line to the PostDraw team.

Credit bonus

A monthly account credit bonus as a thank-you for your time.

Requirements

  • 18 or over and a verified UK PostDraw UK member
  • At least 3 months' active, positive history on the site
  • A few hours a week to review reports and answer questions
  • Calm, fair and friendly communication style

A day in the life

  • Morning

Skim overnight reports and reply to any new-member questions in the community.

  • Midday

Check in on flagged posts and clear any straightforward cases.

  • Evening

A final pass before the day's draws are revealed, and escalate anything unusual to the team.

Code of conduct

  • Always be respectful, even when members aren't.
  • Never share private member details or ticket contents.
  • Escalate anything you're unsure about — don't guess.
  • Treat every member the same, regardless of how long they've played.

You are never on your own

Tools, training and clear boundaries

Volunteers help conversations thrive; they are not expected to investigate accounts, handle emergencies or make high-risk decisions.

A staff contact

You will always have a named staff member to ask for help or escalate a difficult decision.

Clear playbooks

Practical guidance and examples help you make consistent decisions without having to guess.

Privacy by design

Moderators see only what they need for the role, with sensitive account work kept with staff.

Escalation first

Threats, safeguarding concerns and suspected fraud go straight to trained staff—not volunteer moderators.

How much time does it take?

Most moderators spend a few hours a week, fitted around their own schedule.

Can I stop at any time?
